As humans, we often find ourselves stuck in the same routines and mindsets day after day.

We may not even realize the impact this has on our lives until we begin to implement shifts toward a broader outlook.

Fortunately, some of history’s greatest philosophers have done their part to inspire us with wise words that can lead us out of those previous patterns and into new opportunities for personal growth.

1.) To object to pain is pain

This philosophy revolves around the idea that resisting or opposing certain emotions or experiences can amplify those emotions or experiences, leading to further suffering.

It suggests that trying to escape, deny, or fight against discomfort, pain, or fear can ultimately make these feelings even stronger.

A quote by Allan Watts captures this perfectly:

“Running away from fear is fear, fighting pain is pain, trying to be brave is being scared”. When we run away from fear, our act of fleeing becomes fear…
